How It Started

Since 1951, George’s Restaurant has served the Cambridge area with the same dedication, flavour, and standards established by George Seto. Originally from Chikanzhen, Kaiping, China, George came to Canada and built a family business rooted in hard work, tradition, and great food. As one of the first Chinese food restaurants in the area, George’s quickly became a local favourite, known for its welcoming atmosphere, consistency, and recipes that have stood the test of time.

What began as a small family restaurant has grown into a place where generations have gathered, shared meals, and come back time and time again for a sense of community, familiar flavours, and lasting friendships.

After his passing in 1993, ownership and operation of George’s Restaurant remained within the Seto family. It remains in the family today, continuing while preserving the original recipes, methods, and values that have defined George’s since the beginning.

At George’s, we are known for our sweet and sour chicken, Soo Guy, and almond chicken—each made fresh, lightly breaded, and prepared in-house. Our homemade egg rolls and house plum sauce remain customer favourites.
